In case I forget to tell you while I ramble in this blog… (oh yes, I feel a ramble coming on!) our last show was at the State Theater in Minneapolis and it was yet another sterling example of high level, medium energy popular entertainment. Beautiful venue, great sound, enthusiastic crowd. Other than being sad that we were leaving in the morning… it was an A plus evening. (more…)

Being in a band on tour is a lot like golf. Golf is an insidious game. When you play a round of golf, you hit the ball approximately one hundred and twenty times in about seventy five different directions, cursing and swearing that you will sell your clubs and never play again… and then the last couple of shots are amazing. The ball flies straight and true to the hole and you start making plans to join the tour and make millions. Suddenly it was all worth it and you can’t wait to do it again. That’s what tours are like. Sometimes you’re just not wanted. We have a thick skin, this little combo of ours. It doesn’t hurt our feelings much when they say “Thanks… but no thanks.” Tonight Kenny played The City Winery in Chicago. They didnt want Blue Sky Riders. He played the City Winery in NYC and they didn’t want us there either. It’s not us… or our music… they just don’t Iike opening acts. They want to get to the main show as quick as they can.Their menu doesn’t have salads or appetizers either. Only entrees. Dont dawdle. Get right to it. That’s the City Winery motto. (more…)

We are not sure why The Kent Stage in Ohio loves us so much. I’m not saying we aren’t totally lovable… but this place is crazy for us. We had our first show here about a year ago. It was the inaugural show of our BSR headlining tour. We walked offstage after it was over and stared at each other in total shock because the night actually lived up to every expectation that we had. How often does THAT happen in this crazy world we live in? That is a rhetorical question. (more…)
