We played the Saban Theater last night in Beverly Hills. Doesn’t that sound high- falutin’? It was just nice to be able to play indoors where the sun couldn’t get at us. It’s a lovely old theater on Wilshire Blvd. It made us feel like we were truly in show business. Of course, the term “show business” runs the gamut from Frank Sinatra to juggling co-joined twins… so that’s not a major thing to brag about. (more…)

At least I try to only judge myself. This may sound just a hair shy of OCD… but I really try to do each show perfect. You leave a little room for spontaneity, of course… but mostly you shoot for perfect. I am usually happy to hit 80% but tonight… I was, dare I say, a bit flawed. Yes, folks… there were flaws. Tiny, nearly imperceptible flaws… but like wrinkles on Christie Brinkley… you gotta look close, but they’re there. (more…)

I’m on the bus heading to our second show as the opening act on the summer Kenny Loggins tour and I have had a migraine headache for the last two days. About ten years ago, I remember having a migraine attack and having to perform that night. At soundcheck, I noticed the speakers and monitors were extra loud and the stage lights were uber-bright and shining into my eyes. I was terrified. I didn’t know how I was going to get through that show. I took a migraine pill and when I made it through, I realized that that pill plus all that good energy from a wonderfully receptive audience was somehow enough to relieve the pain. That made me stronger than ever. (more…)

I am sitting on the couch of the bus, driving to the hotel (thankfully only about a half hour away) after a Blue Sky Riders show in Newport Beach, CA. I am currently collapsing in a big tub of tired. (more…)
