Blue Sky Riders

Sometimes you’re just not wanted. We have a thick skin, this little combo of ours. It doesn’t hurt our feelings much when they say “Thanks… but no thanks.” Tonight Kenny played The City Winery in Chicago. They didnt want Blue Sky Riders. He played the City Winery in NYC and they didn’t want us there either. It’s not us… or our music… they just don’t Iike opening acts. They want to get to the main show as quick as they can.Their menu doesn’t have salads or appetizers either. Only entrees. Dont dawdle. Get right to it. That’s the City Winery motto. (more…)

We are not sure why The Kent Stage in Ohio loves us so much. I’m not saying we aren’t totally lovable… but this place is crazy for us. We had our first show here about a year ago. It was the inaugural show of our BSR headlining tour. We walked offstage after it was over and stared at each other in total shock because the night actually lived up to every expectation that we had. How often does THAT happen in this crazy world we live in? That is a rhetorical question. (more…)

First of all… do you read these blogs because you want to find out how the show last night went?…. or because you want to peer into the dark chasm that is my alleged mind? I’m okay either way. I will certainly tell you how last night went. I’m a little late getting to it. If I waited much longer I would have to tell you about two shows in one blog and that way lies chaos. Blue Ash, Ohio. You fickle, fickle maiden of Middle America. Blue Sky Riders played one of it’s first shows here a couple of years ago on the Fourth of July. It was a memorable night for many reasons. Bad fashion choices (we were still learning what works for us. I think I wore a short skirt and the front rows could see EVERYTHING.) Bad song choices. (we played an encore we hadn’t quite learned yet so it was a bit of a train wreck) and low turn out (we were so unknown that people didn’t have a clue that they might actually want to SEE the opening act… we were told there would be close to a hundred thousand people in the crowd… and when we walked onstage… there were about fifty people. Fifty people in a field that holds a hundred thousand is not an inspiring sight).  Fast forward to tonight’s concert and see how far we’ve come: (more…)
